LITTLE EYES SHAPING THE FUTURE COMPETITION

What’s the Idea?

Stichting Futurum Nobis is aiming to launch the “Little Eyes Shaping the Future” competition, encouraging children to create art – drawings, crafts, figures, or anything else they choose to make by their hands – to capture the essence of children’s perspectives
in how they see their neighbourhood “of the future” and emphasize their active role in envisioning and influencing long-term decisions related to their neighbourhood.

Why Participate?

In a world increasingly dominated by screens, we aim to inspire creativity, hands-on learning, and critical thinking. This competition helps children disconnect from gadgets and engage in activities that build their imagination, sense of community and encourage
them to take an active role in development of their own neighbourhood.
Every participant will receive a certificate of participation and the winners in various nominations will get something extra from the sponsors.
Next: we aim to present the best 20 works in local gallery and
then sell them through an auction. All money collected from the events will be allocated to run more projects focused on the community and its development. Isn’t it great to participate and become a famous “local”?

GREEN FEED TO FARMS IN NEED

What’s the Idea?

More and more attention comes to the food waste and its negative impact to the environment. Stichting Futurum Nobis recognizes the problem and wants to bring this issue to the attention of the community in South-East of Amsterdam where we currently run most of our projects. We connect shops and markets with the local farms which then receive almost-expired veggies or fruits as nutritious animal feed.

Why participate?

The initiative helps to reduce waste, to cut costs for retailers and for the farmers, and supports sustainable farming practices. We understand that only this initiative alone won’t solve the problem of food waste. That’s obvious! However several organizations in South-East of Amsterdam already run other projects with the same aim of food waste reduction by providing ‘not good-looking’ veggies and fruits from local producers to the community-members at the discounted price or distribute almost-expired food to the community-members free of charge or for little money. More community-members join the initiative to fight food waste more significant the impact on the environment would be.

We believe that one community can inspire few other communities, the latter – few more… With the growing number of communities participating in ‘green’ and ‘sustainable’ initiatives we will grow our positive impact on environment on the global scale. Isn’t that amazing?!

WE MAKE IT EVEN TOGETHER WITH WOMEN

What’s the Idea?

In Stichting Futurum Nobis we believe that women have a special purpose in life! And it’s not only about the ability of childbirth. Women in comparison to men have different way of thinking, analyzing and making decisions. Their approach and logic are often different vs men. It doesn’t mean someone is wrong – women are just different. Understanding this creates a potential to use women’ talents, skills or abilities in a beneficial way for all parties involved.

Why participate?

In a collaboration with like-minded we want to open women’s eyes into their potential as leaders, mentors, advisors, board members of foundations/stichting or house associations/VvEs). Various programs oriented on girls, women and mums are meant to help them in exploring new fields, develop new skills or improve existing ones. Participation in the trainings/events also helps them to develop/improve confidence which is essential for leaders!

Stay tuned & keep an eye on our updates! One of the programs/events might be just right for you!

IK BEN DICHTBIJ / I’M CLOSE BY

What’s the Idea?

This project is part of our “live in unity” and “sustainable neighbourhood” pillars. Its aim to bring in touch various local service providers and local community-members in need for these services. We start our initiative in South-East of Amsterdam and want to expend its practices to other areas.

Why participate?

Covid times made everyone realize how much time we spend on commuting. For various purposes, and mainly work, we used to go outside of our neighbourhoods and waste (sometimes) hours on travelling while during covid many of us started to look at options in the areas around, mainly within our own communities. We had to find a local plumber or a local place to work or just to stay social. Interestingly, during covid the air pollution was the lowest and the negative impact on the environment caused by transport was probably the lowest ever.

Thus Stichting Futurum Nobis wants to explore the possibility of creating a database of local companies/service providers which community-members in South-East of Amsterdam can use. Currently many of those local companies/service providers are so small that many community-members can’t even find them. That’s why we want to hear from those companies/service providers and include them in database which will then be public for use.

By realizing this project, we believe the community will become more connected and thus more supportive, united and strong.

Get in touch with us if you are interested to participate.
